The Season Ends

A disappointing end to the season for "Dudgeons Dragon me down", and it seems he dragged me lower than even I expected. Whatever happened to Dudgeon - did Hull sack him ? Anyway, I did finish higher then Rob, so all's well.

BUT Congratulations to Tilly for his first league title (by a massive margin,as well) to complete the coveted double. How many times has that been done before - I'm sure someone will know??

So another FFL comes to a close and next up it's the World cup in Brazil - come on England (or Uruguay)
Looking forward to the next Auction night - and - I've learned my lesson - no more signings to try to come up with a team name. I'll be serious from now on.

Have a great summer everyone. All the best

Ted

Fantasy Football Cup Final Results

The Fantasy Cup Final was played as scheduled over the weekend of 6th April, but owing to previous crowd problems was forced to be played behind closed doors at an empty stadium. Consequently there has not been much coverage in the main press, but nevertheless, the match result still stands (and thank goodness for Tilly's "Points Date Search" facility introduced this season).

Robin Van Pissing on the Powercord -3 vs Lescott to the Oscars 6

So Tilly's Lescott wins the first half of the double, with the second part looking a dead certainty too.

So congratulations to Tilly, and thank you, also, to Alex for volunteering to run next seasons FFL Cup.

All the best

Hi,

Just a quick one for all managers to have a think about. I've noticed that http://fantasyleague.com has slightly different assist numbers than http://fantasy.premierleague.com.

Looking at Suarez
fantasyleague.com: 28 Goals 20 Assists
fantasy.premierleague.com: 28 Goals 24 Assists.

We currently use fantasyleague.com as that was most like the old Telegraph newspaper that we used to use. I can look into using fantasy.premierleague.com (From next year) as I assume that is actually the official premierleague stats.

What does everyone think?

FFL Cup Semi-Finals

I understand the concerns of some managers (mainly those still left in the cup) about the inconsiderate Football League who scheduled the League Cup Final to take place over the same weekend as the (obviously) more important FFL semi finals.
When the FFL Cup dates were selected (late December) a check of the scheduled Premier League fixtures for each FFL Cup weekend, indicated that there would be a full fixture list. But those bastards in the Football league screwed it up.

Anyway, the rules of the FFL Cup competition allow for such occurences - refer to rule 7, which is cut/pasted below:

7. Games will be played over the nominated "Cup" weekends only. Cup weekends will be selected to provide as full a fixture list as possible. However, only games played on the weekend will count (eg: Saturday/Sunday/Monday) - ie if one of your players doesn't have a game that weekend, then his score will be nil points - tough.

Accordingly, rule 8 confirms the position thus:

8. The Cup committee will publish the team scores for each Cup Weekend - Cup Committee decisions will be final !

With this in mind, the results of the FFL Cup semi finals are as follows:

Lescott to the Oscars (Tilly) 5 versus 4 Golden Graham (Jamie)

Robin Van Pissing......(Ben) 9 versus 3 Cech my Johnson (Alex)

So the the Cup Final will be contested by

Lescott to the Oscars versus Robin Van Pissing.....

The final will be played over the weekend of 5th/6th/7th April (when it appears that there really is a full fixture list.

All the best

FFL Cup - WQuarter Final Results

Here are the results from the FFL Cup Quarter-final matches played last weekend

Lescott to the Oscars (Tilly) 7 versus 5 Enrique’s Heroes (Jenny
Feed the Monkey FC (Sam) 0 versus 1 Golden Graham (Jamie)
Robin Van Pissing......(Ben) 5 versus 1 Dudgeons Draggin me.. (Ted)
Long Pants (Ray) -1 versus 9 Cech my Johnson (Alex)

So, bookies favourites Cech my Johnson remove last seasons cup winners Long Pants with a massive victory
Feed the Monkey could not sustain the attacking football of the last round and went down to Golden Graham in a very low scoring match
Robin Van Pissing... took advantage of Aguero’s (Dudgeon’s only decent player) injury to take the Robin out of Ted
in the top of the table clash Lescott to the Oscars move smoothly into the semis with a closely fought win over Enrique’s heroes. (Interestingly before the Monday match, City v Chelsea, Jenny was leading 2-1, but Tilly proved his is a double contender with a significant result.

So the semi finalist are:

Lescott to the Oscars (Tilly) versus Golden Graham (Jamie)

Robin Van Pissing......(Ben) versus Cech my Johnson (Alex)

Matches will be played over the weekend of 1st/2nd/3rd March.

All the best

FFL Cup - First Round results

Results from yesterdays FFL first round:

Lescott to the Oscars (Tilly) 7 vs Jesus Wept (Alistair) 5
Anything but Bottom (Neil) 8 vs Feed the Monkey FC (Sam) 15
Long Pants (Ray) 6 vs Black Magic Bites Back (Rob) 1
Cech my Johnson (Alex) 12 vs Peer Balance Tracking Utd (Bodhinaga) 0

So holders Long Pants move on smoothly into the quarter-finals proving that Black Magic is more a nasty suck than a bite

Despite a high score from Anything but Bottom, six points each from Agger and Bony move the Monkey into round two.

A thrashing for last years champions (Peer Balance....) sees the odds drop right down for Cech my Johnson, who become one of the bookies favourites for the Cup.

And Finally, in the top-of-the-table class, leaders Lescott to the Oscars prevailed in a tight match with Jesus Wept.

So the matches for the quarter finals are:

Lescott to the Oscars (Tilly) versus Enrique’s Heroes (Jenny
Feed the Monkey FC (Sam) versus Golden Graham (Jamie)
Robin Van Pissing......(Ben) versus Dudgeons Draggin me.. (Ted)
Long Pants (Ray) versus Cech my Johnson (Alex)

Quarter Final matches to be played on weekend of 1st February.

All the best...... FFL Cup Committee

FFL CUP DRAW 2013/2014

The draw for the first round of the FFL Cup was made today in accordance with the current FIFA regulations/procedures.

You will be aware that FIFA procedures require that geographical balance is maintained through the early stages of the competition. It is important for TV ratings that teams from Kohnland are kept apart in the early rounds, and similarly those from Kirkmania, so the draw was made from three separate pots representing:

Teams from Kohnland
Teams from Kirkmania
Teams from the rest of the world-wide soccer community.

Further Pots were then used to indicate the position each drawn team would take in the overall draw, and of course POT X was used to confuse things.

The team drawn to go into POT X is................Peer Balance Tracking (Bodhinaga).

The competition draw progressed with each first-round position being filled in the order drawn, and then the POT X team eventually slotted into the final position.

The resultant draw for the competition is attached as a spreadsheet but the following summarises:.........

First Round matches:

Lescott to the Oscars (Tilly) versus Jesus Wept (Alistair)

Anything but Bottom (Neil) versus Feed the Monkey FC (Sam)

Long Pants (Ray) versus Black Magic Bites Back (Rob)

Cech my Johnson (Alex) versus Peer Balance Tracking Utd (Bodhinaga)

Other teams have received a bye into the Quarter Finals.
First Round matches will be played on New Years Day (1st January 2014) - results out shortly after.

Good Luck to all competitors and may the best team win.

Yours in sport

What? A journalist has taken a quote out of context and made it into another story?? I don't believe you!

Sorry, I woke up in a bad mood and thought that twisting Sturridge's interview was out of order. I bet that Phil Mcnulty was behind it all.

Alistair, I wish to complain about these articles about Daniel Sturridge on the BBC sport website:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24087597

I think this is lazy journalism, no wonder your colleague hasn't put their name against it. I bet it is Phil McNulty - he seems to have something against Liverpool.

In the original interview on Liverpool's website (which the Daily Mail have taken out of context, and the BBC rehashed) Sturridge expresses his desire to be the top striker for his National team, but what is important to get there is playing well for his club side, or else he won't get picked for the World Cup.

It sounds very different when the first bit is missed out and he is quoted as saying the only thing that matters is playing well for Liverpool.
